Philip Woo is a pianist, multi-keyboardist, bandleader, producer and composer based in Tokyo.
Born June 29th 1956,in Seattle, Washington. Philip spent 23 years in New York as a session player, commercial composer, touring musician, and film composer, before settling in Tokyo from 1998 He also lived and worked in Los Angeles and San Francisco. He is versatile in musical styles, including Jazz, Pop, Soul and R&B, Dance and Gospel.
He has toured and Recorded with: Roberta Flack, Whitney Houston, Kenny G, Grover Washington Jr, Cyndi Lauper, Roy Ayers, Ashford & Simpson, Patti Labelle, Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly, Phyliss Hyman, Debbie Harry, Jeffery Osborne, Gladys Knight & the Pips, George Howard, The O`Jays, The Four Tops, Terumasa Hino, Martika, Noel Pointer, Candi Staton, Womack and Womack and more... He has appeared on TV with Stevie Wonder, BB King, Curtis Mayfield, James Ingram, Brandy, Nancy Wilson, Al Jarreau, Crosby Stills and Nash, Jermaine Jackson and many more.
Philip is a longtime member of Toshinobu Kubota's band, recording and touring since 1995.
In Japan he has recorded and toured with; Toshinobu Kubota, The Gospellers, Sowelu, Chemistry, Scoop on Somebody, Fayray, Sakura, Hirai Ken, Hiromi Go, Shimizu Shota, Masayuki Tanaka, and more. Philip is now a featured pianist at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Tokyo Midtown, since its opening in March 2007.
The Philip Woo Band appears at The Cotton Club Tokyo, and Blues Alley Japan. Also Motion Blue Yokohama, Osaka Blue Note and other venues is Tokyo.
